The research team presented a paper and organized a panel during the peer-reviewed conference ISEA 2025, in Seoul.
The aim of the Paik Replayed project was to present some of the early results about the ongoing study (2024-2028), while also taking part in the Nam June Paik special track that was supervised by the Nam June Paik Art Center (chair: Sooyong Lee). We will shortly be publishing the paper and the panel content on this website.
The title of Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás’ presentation and paper (together with Patrick Keller and Erika Marthins), was Paik Replayed: Non-Digital Art Transformed by Hybrid Exhibition Practices. The panel saw interventions by Patrick Keller, Noori Han and Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás, moderated by Erika Marthins and under the topic of Symphony for 20 Rooms (N.J. Paik, 1961), as a Source and Creative Tool for Practice-based Research on Digital and Hybrid exhibitions.
Symphony for 20 Rooms (1961), a score by Nam June Paik—unrealized during his lifetime— served as a focal point of interest and discussion among the participants of the panel. It is likely to serve as a central element in the next phase of our research.
