Dr Giulia Bini, art historian, theorist and curator

Profile: Dr Giulia Bini is a curator, program manager, and institutional strategist with over a decade of experience pioneering experimentation at the nexus of contemporary and media art, science, and advanced technologies in curatorial practice, theory, and writing. She is Curator & Head of Arts at CERN, leading initiatives that connect artistic inquiry with fundamental scientific research. Originally trained as an art historian, her work explores how techno-scientific discourse and transdisciplinary are redefining artistic practices, institutions, and exhibition methods.  Dr. Bini was the founding head of program and curator of Enter the Hyper-Scientific, the artist-in-residence program at EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. She previously served as curator and producer at EPFL Pavilions (2018–2021), and was a member of the curatorial team at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (2014–2017). She has curated numerous group and solo exhibitions and collaborated with leading international institutions. Bini regularly contributes to publications and is the author of Media Spazio Display. ZKM Zentrum für Kunst und Medien | HfG Hochschule für Gestaltung (Mimesis Edizioni, Milan, 2022).

Along with with Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás, she is also co-curator of the Web-based exibition project “ARE YOU FOR REAL. Phase II” from ifa / Institute für Auslandsbeziehungen (DE), initiated in 2023.

Associate Prof. Christophe Guignard , architect, professor and independent designer

ECAL/University of Art and Design, Lausanne (HES-SO) – MID & Theory departments

Profile: Christophe Guignard is an associate professor at ECAL/University of Art and Design, Lausanne (HES-SO), in the Media & Interaction Design as well as Theory departments. Christophe Guignard studied architecture (MSc) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL). He completed his education with a series of seminars in the philosophy and theory of architecture, before obtaining a postgraduate diploma in the information science research laboratories at EPFL.

He is also one of the founding members of fabric | ch (https://www.fabric.ch), an architecture and research studio based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Dr Sabine Himmelsbach, director and head curator

Haus der elektronischen Künste (HEK), Basel (CH)

Profile: Sabine Himmelsbach, Director and Head curator of the Haus der Elektronischen Künste (HEK) in Basel, is a member of the Scientific Committee for the Paik Replayed research project. Her expertise in digital exhibition issues is highly valued and consulted during WP 1, WP 2.2, and WP 4. She is also invited to the final symposium during WP 4.

Prof. Dr Hanna Hölling, research professor in art history, theory and conservation

BFH / Berner Fachhochschule (Bern Academy of the Arts), Bern (CH)

Profile: Hanna Hölling is a recognized and international specialist of critical conservation and material culture, as well as of the Korean artist Nam June Paik and the Fluxus movement, on which she has published several books. She is an Editorial Board member of ArtMatters – International Journal for Technical History and is currently leading two SNF-funded research projects.

Her expertise on the artist N. J. Paik will be of primary importance to the research, and will be called upon during the WPs dealing with the online exhibition of transposed artworks and during the symposium organized with all peers, specialists, advisors, the public, professors and students.

Dr Adeena Mey, researcher, film historian and curator

Afterall Journal, UAL / Central St Martins, University of the Arts, London (EN)

Profile: Adeena Mey is Managing Editor of Afterall journal and a Research Fellow at the Afterall Research Centre, Central St Martins, Univer-sity of the Arts London. He is Principal Investigator of the digital research project “Black Atlantic Museum” funded by the Paul Mellon Centre in London, co-initiator of the workshop series “Terms and Conditions of Writing and Publishing Art in Southeast Asia” funded by the British Academy, and a lecturer in Contemporary Art History at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne.

He is currently working on a genealogy of exhibitions conceived as ecosystems from the 70’s to documenta15.


Missions (for all members of the Scientific Committee): the SC is consulted regularly during the progress of the research, according to the missions of the various work packages and in relation to their profile. All SC members are invited to the symposium that is taking place during the last year of the research (in 2027, likely in Lausanne).
